THE MASTERS AND AUGUSTA

The Green Jacket is one of the most iconic golfing symbols in the world. Awarded to the winner of The Masters since 1949 – 15 years after the tournament first took place – it is one of sport’s most coveted prizes. Such a rich heritage has led to Augusta witness far more than its fair share of historic golf moments, from Tiger Woods winning his first Major to Jack Nicklaus winning his last. As a result, The Masters at Augusta transcends golf and is rightly considered as one of the world's truly great sporting occasions.

ATLANTA AND STEAK

Atlanta is a short distance from Augusta and the ideal place to stay while Stateside for The Masters. It not only offers a wealth of history as the birthplace of Martin Luther King, but it’s also got countless attractions, including the World of Coke (you need to see this place), the gargantuan Georgia Aquarium and the Fox Theatre. And if you want steak, well, you’ll definitely be in the right place as Kevin Rathbun Steak and Bones fight it out to be cow-cooking king of the city. Visit either, ideally both, and you’ll be talking about the meal long after you arrive back home.

JACK NICKLAUS BEAR’S BEST

As with every GolfTraveller itinerary, the golf on offer in Atlanta is first class, including Bear’s Best in the exclusive gated community of Edinburgh. Here, Jack Nicklaus has compiled 18 of his favourite designs into one course, supported with a suitably luxurious clubhouse facility. Also in Atlanta, as part of our fully flexible itineraries, we can offer tee times at the legendary East Lake, home course of the famed Bobby Jones, or Greg Norman’s first-ever US course, TPC Sugarloaf, run by the PGA Tour and host course for a round of the PGA Champions Tour.

LAKESIDE LUXURY

The spectacular location of Lake Oconee is enough on its own to make the Reynolds Plantation (or RitzCarlton Reynolds), a genuine bucket-list golf destination. But when there are no fewer than six options for Championship-standard golf you begin to see why every golfer worth his/her salt wants to tee off here. Whether it’s for Bob Cupp’s pioneering Plantation and The Landing Course; Jack Nicklaus’ Great Waters Course, Rees Jones’ The Oconee Course, Jim Engh’s Creek Club or Tom Fazio’s 27-hole National Course there isn’t a golfer on the planet whose appetite for the game won’t be sated by a visit to this incredible location. When you add Ritz-Carlton’s first-class spa and tranquil lakeside location, there really isn’t a better place to unwind after the ultimate sporting thrill of The Masters.
